How many PDUs do I need to maintain my certification?

The amount of PDUs needed in each 3-year cycle is based on the specific certification you hold. Determine how many PDUs you need and other requirements details below:

I am a CAPM® holder

If you hold a Certified Associate in Project Management Professional (CAPM)® certification, you are required to earn 15 PDUs in a 3-year cycle.

These 15 PDUs can be broken down as follows:

  • Minimum of 9 Education PDUs
  • Maximum of 6 Giving Back PDUs

As a certification holder, you must earn a minimum of 2 PDUs in each skill area of the PMI Talent Triangle – Ways of Working, Power Skills, and Business Acumen.

I am a PMI-ACP®, PMI-RMP®, PMI-CP™, PMI-CPMAI™, PMI-SP® or CSPP™ holder

If you hold any of the following certifications, you are required to earn 30 PDUs in a 3-year cycle.

  • PMI Agile Certification Practictioner (PMI-ACP)®
  • PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)®
  • PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP)™
  • PMI Certified Professional in Managing AI (PMI-CPMAI)™
  • PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)®
  • Certified Sustainable Project Professional (CSPP)™

These 30 PDUs can be broken down as follows:

  • Minimum of 18 Education PDUs
  • Maximum of 12 Giving Back PDUs

As a certification holder, you must earn a minimum of 4 PDUs in each skill area of the PMI Talent Triangle Ways of Working, Power Skills, and Business Acumen.

I am a PMP®, PgMP®, PfMP®, or PMI-PBA® holder

If you hold any of the following certifications, you are required to earn 60 PDUs in a 3-year cycle.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)®
  • Program Management Professional (PgMP)®
  • Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)®
  • Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)®

These 60 PDUs can be broken down as follows:

  • Minimum of 35 Education PDUs
  • Maximum of 25 Giving Back PDUs

As a certification holder, you must earn a minimum of 8 PDUs in each skill area of the PMI Talent Triangle Ways of Working, Power Skills, and Business Acumen.

I am a PMI-PMOCP™ holder

If you hold a PMI® Project Management Office Certified Professional (PMI-PMOCP)™ certification, you are required to earn 30 PDUs in a 3-year cycle.

These 30 PDUs can be broken down as follows:

  • Minimum of 20 Education PDUs
  • Maximum of 10 Giving Back PDUs

As a certification holder, you must earn a minimum of PDUs in the following skill areas of PMI Talent Triangle:

  • 3 Ways of Working
  • 7 Power Skills
  • 10 Business Acumen
